How it began.
For hundreds of years, shepherds from miles around herded their sheep through Langholm to be sold at market, along what would later be named Drove Road. In the late 1970s, Drove Weavers was created as a small blanket weaving company on that very road by Robbie Trussler. Today, Leanne & Emma Duncan are taking the business forward into Langholm future. Drover Weavers manufacture about 150,000 meters of fabric per year for a variety of companies.
Langholm was historically a town renowned for its woollen tweeds, housing many mills over the years. As manufacturing moved abroad, the family run mills shut one by one until only Drove Weavers remained. We are committed to keeping the skill and craft of weaving alive by manufacturing to the highest standard.
Drove Weavers is proud to be run by the people of Langholm.
